Beekeeping 101

Join Yard to Market Co-op at TreeHouse for an introduction to Beekeeping. We will learn the biology, behavior and domestication of the European Honey Bee. We will look at Langstroth hives as well as Top Bar hives and learn all the essential gear you need to get you going on the journey of beekeeping.
Our instructor John J. Swan owns Wicked Bee Removal as well as maintaining his own apiary and producing organic honey for local retailers. He is president of the Travis County Beekeepers association and is an advanced member of the Texas Master Beekeepers Program.

Join us at Scissortail Microfarmsin creating explosive abundance with a weekend permablitz! This site had its original Permablitz done 3 years ago, so you can see how things are doing and learn from the owners' mistakes and successes.

• Come for as little or as long as long as you'd like for the event.

* The Permablitz will be 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Watch for updates in the case of severe weather (but we are pretty tough!)

• Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days. Dinner will be provided for campers.

8th Annual Austin Funky Chicken Coop Tour

Austin's Funky Chicken Coop Tour is back for an 8th year and this time we've really got something to crow about! The purpose of this tour is to encourage city residents to raise chickens at home by demonstrating the many ways that chicken (and other poultry) housing can be incorporated into urban residence without violating city ordinances or creating a nuisance. Our theme this year is Chickens as Zero Waste Heroes.

Permablitz Naylor Homestead

oin us at the Naylor homestead in creating explosive abundance with a weekend permablitz! We'll create a marketplace garden with berms and swales on contour and integrate goats and chickens as working animals into our design. Come join the fun!
